The new silicone stump bracket sold by the Otto Block company and successfully assimilated by the team at the Dan Simon Orthopedic Institute received immediate positive response from the Institute’s patients. The bracket prevents upper chafing from friction with the prosthetic. The product stands out for its small weight and comfortable shape, which help completely eliminate the feeling of its presence.

Production has begun of a new product by Freedom.

The prosthesis in question is an artificial foot – a modern, comfortable development designed for disabled people who have undergone amputation of the lower leg. The flexible and continuous baseboard of the prosthesis allows for light, springy steps. The light weight provides users with comfort, dynamism and safety when walking.

An additional achievement is the Rheo Knee assembly, developed by the Dutch company Össur.

RHEO KNEE

This device, called the Control Knee, has won many exhibitions and competitions around the world in the health category. The international magazine Science awarded the developers of Rheo Knee a special award and grant in recognition of its being the first prosthesis of its kind produced at such a high technological level, while taking into account features such as the quality of the enterprise, product quality and innovation on a global level.

Scientist have dubbed the development “proprioceptio”, a term taken from the fields of medicine and robotics and meaning “proprioceptional” – marking full sensory spatial orientation. The prosthesis itself is referred to as the “proprio foot”, that is, a foot that collects spatial information and properly positions itself.

The proprio foot takes on the role of the amputated muscles, allowing disabled individuals to properly perform movements and functional operations. The sensor technology assembled at the base of the product replaces human receptors: the patented artificial intelligence mechanism collects and processes the information, allowing it to detect and operate the most optimal choice for taking the next step. As a result, patients’ gaits are characterized by soft steps and they are able to travel significant distances without tiring. On stairs and sloped surfaces, the artificial knee bends softly – making the climb safe and natural. The product has proven itself as enabling people with hip prostheses (above the knee) to getting into cars without difficulty.

Above all, the developers and manufacturers take pride in fact that they have made it possible for patients to participate in the Paralympic Games, the Olympic Games for disabled athletes.
